Ricarda's Safety Protocol: The Smoothabelle IPL system relies on advanced light energy. While it is highly effective, it interacts directly with your skin's biology. We strictly prohibit treatment if you meet any of the following contraindications. Do not bypass this logic.
Pharmaceutical Conflicts
- Accutane (Isotretinoin) Must cease usage for at least 6 months prior. Skin is too thin to withstand light energy.
- Retinoids (Retin-A, Tretinoin) Discontinue use on the treatment area 1-2 weeks before your session.
- Photosensitizing Medications Certain antibiotics (e.g., Tetracycline) increase burn risk. Declare all meds during consultation.
Pathological Barriers
- Epilepsy The flashing light of the IPL device may trigger seizures. Treatment is prohibited.
- Herpes Simplex / Cold Sores Light and heat can trigger active outbreaks. We cannot treat over active lesions.
- Diabetes Potential for compromised healing responses. Medical clearance required.
Dermal Status
- Recent Sun Exposure / Tanning Treating sunburned or recently tanned skin (including fake tan) significantly increases the risk of blistering and pigmentation changes.
- Tattoos & Permanent Makeup IPL cannot be used directly over tattoos, as it targets pigment and will damage the ink and skin.
Physiological Shifts
- Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Due to hormonal fluctuations and lack of clinical safety data, IPL is prohibited until post-weaning.

After 3 weeks, it’s time for my 2nd IPL treatment. To my surprise i don’t really have much hair, it did grew, but it grew exceptionally slowly. I was really amazed and happy with the result. I don’t feel as much pain as the first time. 2 weeks later after my 2nd IPL session, i came back for my 3rd session of IPL hair removal. I only had a few strand of baby armpit hair. The whole session lasted only about 10-15 mins without any pain. I’m really very content with the results.
For me, results are SUPERB! almost permanent already i think. I hardly see anything now. Clean as a white sheet of paper!!! =DDDDD *happy* Now, I get like 15 mins off every morning from epiliating. Dont need to worry about forgetting to shave before going out anymore. Clean 24/7~!! I was abit skeptical about IPL at first because its like super expensive and i dont know what to expect from it.
